Many veterans, from all eras , first question is "Where do I start". This guide will be a guide that gets you started using lessons learned in our language.
1. Fill out a 10-10 ez .. this is your start on the VA health Care System ( VAB ). whether or not you are eligible for FREE health care through the VA. They offer healthcare on a needs basis . It is a system of care that is great in financial hardship and also help with government funding( use it or loose it)
To apply, call 1-877-222-VETS (8387), Mon-Fri between 8 am and 8 pm, EST
You may apply in person
at your local VA health care facility
On line
www.vets.gov/healthcare/apply/
2. If you have experience trauma .. you can get a screening at any VA healthcare facility .. also there are online self assessment tools
3. Contact your local VSO
Go to State>> Region >> service providers
If it is blank you can add the information for you county
4. Connect with local veterans
Veteran healthcare and veteran benefits are two separate parts of the Veterans Administration. they are referred to as VAH Veteran's Administration Healthcare and (VAB) Veteran's Administration Benefits. It can be confusing when, while on duty, you went to basically the same place for everything.Va compensation/Disability is total separate from healthcare. Once an injury is "service connected" you then can see the VA for that condition free of charge. Once you reach a certain level of compensation , all your care will most likely be covered.
If you feel a condition is remotely related to your service apply online to lock in your date.

or go to a facility
or find a local accrediated organization to represent you
